Sesame ginger chicken with wood fungus

Whenever I think of confinement recipes, this dish will be the first to pop up in my mind. Power dish for new mothers! Has all the good stuff in it. The Chinese believe a new mother after childbirth needs to restore her health and energy, thus sesame oil is used in this dish to warm up her body and to promote blood circulation.

Fried gelatinous sharksfin with eggs

I do not eat sharkfins, neither do I use real sharksfins in any of my daily or festive cooking. Nowadays, we can purchase some gelatinous sharksfins from the supermarket frozen food department and whip up a tasty stir-fry for lunch or dinner. I love this dish cos it is simple to prepare and lovely to eat with all the different textures and flavours.
