Stir-fry Basil Chicken

Basil thrives in our climate. When it grows, it grows. This is one thing that makes me really happy, when I get to use herbs from my garden to cook. They are so fragrant and fresh and it feels really good to know it came from my own garden patch. Here’s a wonderful recipe for [...]

Malaysian Braised Pig Trotter

This can be passed as a one pot dish and not only does it taste great, it’s high on collagen too. Great and fuss free way to braise a pig trotter.

One-pot dry ‘tau yu bak’ (braised soy sauce pork belly)

This recipe is very much a ‘Kids Pleaser’. It has all the ingredients most children would like, can’t say all though. Like the saying goes “One man’s meat is another man’s poison”. This is not the easy, dump all in one-pot recipe. It need a little searing, braising and watching over the fire kind of stuff. If you are hard-pressed for time, then better leave this recipe alone and attempt it another day.

Honey Lemon Soy Beef Ribs

HLS1

This simple short beef ribs recipe serves 2 kids or 3 if they are mousy eaters. I served it with some grilled potato wedges and edamame (green soya beans. Double or triple the recipe portion if cooking for more or if serving it as a main course with mashed potatoes and steam vegetables.

Meatball Tofu Stew

This is one stew I love to make when I am hard pressed for time. It’s a no fuss stew anyone can make with minimum ingredients, not to mention children friendly. It has ….. click to read more …

Braised Nam Yue Pig Trotter

Most of my regular readers must be wondering where on earth have I disappeared to for the past couple of months. The thing is, audreycooks will be shifting to a brand new kitchen, middle of this year so I am terribly occupied with designing and supervising the whole rectification and renovation works. Prayerfully, this new kitchen can handle more home-entertaining than the present one. But surely I will miss my wonderful present kitchen which holds uncountable fond memories.

Stir-fry Watercress Shoots

img_2561.JPG

Here in Malaysia, it is made into the popular soup, ‘Sai Yong Choy Thong’ (in Cantonese). Slow-boiled with soup bones, usually chicken or pork, some dried oysters and a handful of dried red dates creates a wonderful aroma fit to satisfy a rumbling tummy on a cool stormy day. I look forward to this slow-boiled soup very often.

Chinese New Year Veggie Platter

cny-veggies.jpg

Chinese New Year dishes come early this time round. For those of you who will be preparing reunion dinner next February may want to give this recipe a go. It has all my favourite ingredients all in one platter. Here I have chosen the pre-soaked sea cucumber which is springy in texture, not the hard and dried ones. Mainly because the hard dried ones need a long time to braise until edible. Truthfully, I don’t have that sort of time to spare with a toddler constantly looking for my attention. All the ingredient quantities below can be increased to suit the size of your platter, so the recipe I am giving today is based on the size of my platter.

Turmeric Grilled Chicken

Frankly, I don’t fancy fast food. They may taste good but does a lot of harm to our body system in a long run. Why do you think there are so many obese children nowadays? If we can let our children have it their way with food, I am very sure majority of them will end up choosing the fast and unhealthy version. That is why, we as parents must instill in them a healthy lifestyle which consists of healthy food, proper exercise, discipline etc … the list goes on.

Thick Spicy Curry Chicken

thick-curry-2.jpg

I have a problem attaching a name to this particular dish. It practically originated from a brain-storm I had one early morning after I sent my daughter to school. This recipe is rich with spices like turmeric, cumin and coriander. I can safely say this dish has a strong fusion flavour from its Thai and [...]
