Our ‘Kampung Cuisine’ class conducted by Rohani Jelani.
I have readers asking me from time to time if I conduct cooking classes, well, I would love to from time to time but frankly speaking I would prefer to cook, snap, write and blog. Just last week, I had the privilege to meet the bubbly lady, Rohani Jelani in person. She started the legendary homegrown Malaysian cooking school, Bayan Indah some 10 years ago. This meticulously built bungalow sits on a luscious acre of green, right in the heart of a traditional Malay village. It is not an ordinary cooking school but a Malaysian Culinary Resort, where those who crave for a taste of village home-stay and would like to try their hand in Malay home cooking can find pure bliss and pleasure here. Be forewarned, if you can find your directions as well as how I can cook, then you’re perfectly safe. Unfortunately, I am not as accurate behind the wheel as with the wok. I got lost, not once but twice …
I would highly recommend my overseas readers to give Bayan Indah Culinary Resort a try. The ambiance is warm, cosy and alluring. What more, you get to learn first hand cooking from Rohani Jelani herself. As for world class shopping, it’s just a short trip by taxi to and fro. In my opinion, it beats staying in a hotel anytime.
