  Honey Lemon Soy Beef Ribs

Just like it says “Honey Lemon Soy Beef Ribs”. This recipe can be quite a hit with children who craves meat. You can purchase beef ribs at any length required, in this recipe I opted for short beef ribs. Easier for children to eat and requires less time to braise, thus a little more time for mommy to do other things. At the moment this mommy is scrabbling for more time in any possible areas just to find time to plan and organized the new kitchen. Equipment size? How tall? How wide? Does it meet my cooking requirements? Is this item just going to be a ‘White Elephant” just because it looks good. Practicality, eco friendly, sleek looking and cost efficient ! that should be my KEY words. Stay focus!

Focusing on today’s recipe. You will require the ingredients below:-

6 pieces short beef ribs
1 Tbsp honey
juice of 1/2 lemon
2 Tbsp light soy
1/2 tsp dark soy
compressed brown sugar or rock sugar
a dash of red wine vinegar
1/4 tsp tapioca flour (to thicken)
pepper
sea salt
grapeseed oil

  1. Marinade the short ribs with honey, lemon juice and soy for an hour. (If hard-pressed for time, you can substitute with 4 Tbsp of Beerenberg Honey Lemon Soy sauce marinade, it tastes pretty good too)
  2. Heat up a wok. Drizzle in some grapeseed oil. Toss in the marinated ribs and stir over moderately high heat for a short while.
  3. Grate in about a tsp of compressed brown sugar or rock sugar and lower down the heat. Add a dash of red wine vinegar and 3 Tbsp of water or beef stock. bring it to simmer until the liquid has almost evaporated, repeat the same process , add some more water or stock. Simmer the ribs for approximately 50 minutes.
  4. Thicken with tapioca flour mixed with a Tbsp of filtered normal temperature water. Drizzle it into the ribs and stir.
  5. Add sea salt and pepper to taste.
